Yesterday, a patient received a badly needed blood transfusion. Today, a service member was comforted far from home. Tonight, a family will receive support to get back on their feet after losing everything in a house fire.
You are the Red Cross community, and you make extraordinary acts of compassion like these possible every day.
Now, I’m writing to ask you about tomorrow. Storms and fires and other emergencies don’t pause for the holidays. There will be neighbors and communities in need.
What makes the Red Cross community special is that we know in our hearts that there is someone else out there – this very moment – who needs the comfort and care only the Red Cross can provide. And every one of us is ready to do our part.
And if you’re wondering what kind of difference one person can make, you only need to look at what we did together this year…
responded to a community emergency every 9 minutes
provided emergency assistance to more than 380 military families each day
made sure Red Cross could help families struck by house fires or other heartbreak 190 times each day
Numbers can never capture the magnitude of what we accomplish together. But they can inspire us to help even more people – just as your compassion inspires all of us at the Red Cross each and every day.
