An Update From Gerald: Eight New Innovations You Will Find On Board

Dear Seabourn Guest,

I hope you are well as September slowly comes to a close. If you’re like me, you are already starting to see the holiday season ahead and the festive atmosphere that many of us enjoy sharing with close family and friends.

Over the past year and a half, some of you have been curious about what the Seabourn team has been doing during a unique time in our industry’s history. Most of you are aware we have had two of our five ships successfully sailing since July. Seabourn Ovation is now finishing up the final few voyages in the Greek Isles before heading to the U.S. for the first time and Seabourn Odyssey will continue to travel the Caribbean Islands via Bridgetown, Barbados. I have been on both recently, and to say it has been a sheer joy to see the happy faces of our guests and team members coming together once again would be an understatement; it was truly special on so many levels.

Perhaps what you did not know is how much our Hotel Operations team has worked over the past 18 months to innovate across many areas of the Seabourn experience. The goal when we set out was simple: take the Seabourn luxury cruise you have come to know and love and find ways to make it better for every guest who steps on board. We examined onboard amenities and services, from culinary to entertainment to technology.

I would like to share a brief explanation of eight new innovations that await you the next time you step on any of our ships.

  1. Enhanced food and beverage offerings: More than 300 new recipes will tempt your palate, along with new culinary offerings in several venues. Start your day with Breakfast at The Patio, providing another morning al fresco choice poolside featuring a daily menu of items and lighter fare, including vegan, vegetarian and plant-based options, freshly made juices, as well as classic breakfast dishes. For pre-dinner cocktails, The Club is livelier than ever and now features a revamped cocktail hour, offering a creative new menu of small bites that changes daily, live music and enhanced playlists, with the fun extending to the outdoor deck space directly outside.
  2. New and Enhanced Entertainment Offerings: Handré and his team have developed four new and enhanced entertainment experiences, including a new exciting production show on Seabourn Ovation, Latin Quarter, showcasing the dances and music of Latin America, and Serenade, a classical concert on deck during sail away events. Plus, although it isn’t quite an innovation, many of you will be happy to know the in-suite television system has been upgraded to include Sports 24 along with a wide selection of movies and programs.
  3. Seabourn Source: We have released an all-new ultramodern app, Seabourn Source, which puts the luxury of Seabourn at your fingertips. Available for Apple iPhones or Android, the app features the ability to view the day’s events on your screen, order ahead a fresh cappuccino or latte in Seabourn Square and make reservations in dining outlets including The Grill by Thomas Keller. The app also lets you retrieve digital boarding passes to speed up the embarkation process and helps you prepare required health assessments for each member of your party prior to embarkation. Within Seabourn Source you can access our extensive lists of hundreds of reserve wines or learn about different varietals during onboard wine lectures. I would encourage you to download it today!
  4. New all-inclusive complimentary Wi-Fi: You spoke, and we listened. Seabourn has tripled the bandwidth on board for guests and Wi-Fi service is now complimentary, with unlimited minutes for all bookings on every ship, making it easier for you to stay connected while you travel with us. Under this new system, two tiers of Wi‑Fi packages will be available for guests. The service allows unlimited browsing, email, and social media access. Guests needing added bandwidth for more devices, video streaming or cloud storage services can upgrade their package at a nominal service charge. If you’re working remotely now, the new Wi-Fi service is perfect to help you “work from anywhere” if you need to stay in touch with your office.
  5. New Housekeeping Teams: The onboard housekeeping team now consists of a two-person team servicing each suite to include one Suite Host and one Suite Attendant, replacing the former single Suite Stewardess position. Both the Suite Host and Suite Attendant will service their assigned suites to the highest Seabourn standards, ensuring every preference is met and striving to exceed your expectations throughout the voyage.
  6. Streamlined Embarkation Process: You will find a simplified and automated check-in process enabling you to go from curbside to the ship faster. Including your mobile boarding pass, guests are now provided with a specific assigned embarkation time. Though it may be tempting to board early, we ask that you please adhere to your designated time. Guests who arrive early will be asked to return when they are scheduled. Your electronic boarding pass is scanned when you arrive at the terminal and once on board, you will be escorted straight to your suite, which will already be prepared, allowing you to settle in and start enjoying your vacation right away.
  7. Safety Briefings: Onboard safety briefings have been redesigned to an e-mustering process where you can complete the safety briefing from the comfort of your suite by watching the mandatory safety video on the TV. You will need to visit your designated muster station, but at a time convenient for you between boarding and 30 minutes before the ship departs. You must also listen to the Captain’s announcement when it is made.
  8. Health and Safety: We know health and safety are top of mind today and with the support of a world-class medical advisory panel, Seabourn has put in place a holistic approach to health and safety designed to provide you with enhanced confidence and comfort. The protocols include pre-cruise testing, verification of vaccination status, onboard screening, enhanced levels of cleaning and other steps to help travelers feel confident while they are on board. Our entire team has devoted tremendous effort to ensure you find an environment on board that is one of the safest you will find anywhere.
