Resources for Resilience

Dear Friend,
Life never ceases to amaze. Through so much hardship and turmoil, somehow we find a way to carry on and build anew. Today, we’d like to share what we can with you to help you do just that.

I suspect that, like me, many of you are feeling major fatigue over the state of the world. We have had no shortage of problems big and small, and sometimes it seems like recent times have been nothing but trouble. Although we are now seeing some signs of recovery, we continue to navigate the complicated and devastating impacts of the coronavirus pandemic. And our lives have all changed. It’s been a lot.

But here we are. I am reminded so often of how extraordinary that is. We have this life together, and we have a chance to transform all of this—this terrible time of pain, suffering, chaos, confusion, and uncertainty—into opportunities for new growth, deeper awareness, and communal learning. We’re adapting.

This ability to change, to heal from pain and rise up with newfound strength, to see mistakes and come out wiser, to look deeply at our obstacles and give ourselves wholeheartedly toward ever better ways of living—this is the light in the darkness. And when I stop to look, I see so much of this magic all around me.

In the short term, we have already done so much—and the possibilities ahead of us are so vast. I’m constantly blown away by the creativity I’ve seen among parents to nurture our next generation in such novel and beautiful ways. Teachers and students have been bringing their energy and expertise to bear to keep us learning. Businesses continue to explore groundbreaking avenues to keep us supplied with our everyday needs. And, not least of all, each of us has been faced with taking a good look inward to see our deepest challenges and fears, to face them head on, and to try and come out all the stronger. And we will.

We hope that these few resources can help you on whatever path you find yourself, if even in the smallest ways. And we can’t thank you enough for joining us in this journey. We’re going to make it—together.

Things Do Not Always Go According to Plan

“We make plans expecting to be in control of what will happen. Perhaps we fear natural happenings, things turning out contrary to our wishes.
