Dear Supporter,

Back in July we brought you news of the birth of Djongo and Mayombe’s new arrival - the first baby born in the wild to two captive born gorillas. We are delighted to now tell you that Mayombe’s beautiful baby has a name!

Please meet Taàli, which means ‘Hope’ in the Batéké language. We are pleased to announce that little Taàli is a healthy baby girl! This name, chosen by our dedicated partners at Zoo de Beauval, is a perfect fit for this precious new arrival.

Taàli is a very active infant and is often seen grabbing branches and leaves from her mother's back, and has shown a real appetite for fruit and vegetables.

As the first EVER wild gorilla born to captive-born parents, Taàli truly represents everything that The Aspinall Foundation and our partners are striving to achieve.

This is the latest success story from our work in Congo and Gabon protecting gorillas. Since our projects began, we have released over 70 gorillas back to the wild and seen over 35 wild births since then.
