Hello to all my Frugal Friends!

The Christmas season is typically a joyful time of year. Yes, this year will be different, but some things will remain the same. Unfortunately, one of them does not bring joy into our homes. It brings anger and sadness. That's burglary and theft.

It's estimated that property crimes run about 20% higher during the holidays. Experts place much of the blame on there being more opportunities.

That's understandable. If we're shopping in a store (whether department store or grocery), we're probably focused on getting our shopping done. Not on our own security. That makes us more vulnerable to a thief.

Shopping online creates a different opportunity for thieves. Any delivery left at your doorstep is an invitation for porch pirates to steal the package from your front door. Even if someone is home, it's an easy deal/steal for the bad guys.

And the inside of our homes aren't immune to theft. We gather gifts around the Christmas tree. Almost as if we wanted to make it easier for the burglar to find and take them!

So let's do something about it. Whenever I can, I like to learn from an insider expert. A Burglar Reveals 15 Trade Secrets can help you see your home through the eyes of a burglar.

Being dollar stretchers we don't want to have to spend too much to protect our possessions. That's where 7 Low Cost Home Security Tactics and 18 Affordable Anti-Theft Tips to Keep Burglars Out of Your Home come into play.

Obviously I can't promise that if you read and follow this advice that you won't become a victim of theft. But I can be pretty sure that you'll reduce the chances that a bad guy will choose you.

Here's to a theft-free holiday!

Keep on Stretching those Dollars!
Gary
