Nikon is Winning Where Canon Failed
by Nilofer Khan
November 20, 2024
Map Times, a Japanese camera store, has unveiled its latest ranking. It now seems that the photography market is catering to various segments, with full-frame cameras taking the lead and other sensors following right behind, too. The camera sales ranking sees all the companies take a unique place on the list, which makes us wonder whether the same can be expected next month. Without further ado, here is a look at the October camera sales.

The Leica M (“Messsucher”) series is one of the most iconic cameras in the history of photography. They were not only the companions of the renowned photographers who walked the Earth but also helped to influence Japanese camera makers to follow in their footsteps. And now, to celebrate the 70th anniversary and honor the history of its product, the 45th edition of the famous Leitz Photographica Auction will feature some of the greatest Leica M series cameras ever produced in Vienna. Could they be some of the most expensive Leicas ever sold?
Panasonic 28-200mm f4-7.1 Macro OIS Review: The Lens That Never Gets In the Way
by Chris Gampat
November 20, 2024
I finished reviewing the Panasonic 28-200mm f4-7.1 Macro OIS back in June; but I purposely let my thoughts and experiences marinate. And in October, when I'm writing this review, I'm reconnecting with a side of myself that's intent on telling stories. This lens lets you do everything you want and doesn't get in the way of taking a picture with the macro abilities. I positively adore that. For most of my time as a photographer, I've used prime lenses. But good zooms like this have made me want to switch to only ever using them. The way that Panasonic makes good zoom lenses that are lightweight yet unique is also really appealing to me.

The past year has been quite an interesting and successful time for Leica. Not only have they launched exciting products and celebrated the 70th anniversary of the Leica M series, but they also now report a substantial profit for their fiscal year 2023-2024. This comes at a time when premium camera brands like Leica have been gaining more popularity, especially for those who want a compact and powerful device for long-term use.

by Nilofer Khan
November 20, 2024
The 11th edition of the International Landscape Photographer of the Year Awards has finally unveiled its winners. Anyone who has been in the genre knows landscape photography is a mix of several things: timing, talent, challenges, and decent gear. And if even one is missing, the entire pyramid comes crashing down. But this year's winners have overcome everything thrown their way to push the boundaries of the genre further. And the winning images will blow your mind, as it did with ours.
Is the New Yongnuo 35mm ‘Art’ Series Lens a Replica of Sigma?
by Nilofer Khan
November 19, 2024
Yongnuo is a Chinese third-party photography accessory brand that tries to do things differently. They created a camera, which didn't work well, but you have to give them a pat on the back for trying. The innovation was very different for its time (2019) but had many caveats. We have also tested a few of their flashes, and they have performed well at the rate they are there. Then, the company became the first in DXO Marks rating to beat its Japanese competitors with its Yongnuo 85mm f1.8. As you can see, they are going places. And now, it appears they are increasing their lens lineup with a new device for Sony, Fujifilm, Nikon, and maybe Canon.
Sony 28-70mm f2 Review: A Lens I’d Carry Around All Day
by Chris Gampat
November 19, 2024
During the presentation that Sony gave us, the company seemed pretty adamant that they were going after Canon with their new 28-70mm f2 G Master lens. And with the exception of the way that Sony makes everything so clinical, they're doing a fantastic job. At least, that's in comparison to Canon -- Sony claimed that this lens was as sharp as their 35mm f1.4 G Master. Compared to the Canon variant, this lens is both smaller and lighter. In fact, it's so much lighter than the Canon variant that I really haven't minded using it for long shooting sessions where it's slung around me for hours at a time.
