1. Upload High-Resolution Images |
An image's original resolution is important because it determines how large your final print can be. Photos uploaded to sites like Facebook or Instagram are automatically compressed and become too small to print large. That’s why it’s best to upload your photos directly from your phone or digital camera to our website, where their original resolution is preserved for high-quality printing. |
|
2. Check DPI |
A digital image's resolution is defined by the number of pixels per square inch (PPI), with a higher PPI having more information in the picture. This is similar to physical printing, which uses dots per inch (DPI) to determine the resolution of a printed image based on the amount of ink deposited on the paper. |
We recommend between 250–300 DPI for the best results. By uploading your highest-resolution image file, you can print in more sizes without sacrificing quality. |
3. Understand Aspect Ratio & Cropping |
The aspect ratio is important because it determines how your photo will fit onto a print of a specific size. Some common ratios and sizes are 3:2 (4x6) and 5:4 (8x10). |
If the aspect ratio of the photo doesn’t match the print size, you’ll have to crop the photo. For example, if you have an image with an aspect ratio of 3:2 and you want to print it as an 8x10, which has an aspect ratio of 5:4, then the image will need to be cropped to fit the new aspect ratio. |

4. Use This Chart |
When you know the resolution of your image and the size you want to print, use this chart to see what we recommend for the best print quality. |
