Cellar Stocker #6
today's offer
Xavier Vignon
2012 'Cuvée Anonyme' Châteauneuf-du-Pape

How Cellar Stocker works

  • It starts at 8am PST.
  • A new wine drops every hour through 3pm.
  • If a wine sells out, it will stay up until the next wine drops at the top of the following hour.
  • If it doesn't sell out, we’ll drop them into the Store for the rest of the day.

We’re getting into the witching hour with wine #6 - a decade old CdP drinking like a champ.

“These wines are a treasure trove for the savvy buyer.” - Robert Parker

Somebody PINCH us. Must be a dream, come true?

Xavier CdP with a decade of age at the winery, precious liquid SILK, big scores, AND a big break?!

Jeb Dunnuck says “Xavier Vignon is one of the top oenologists in the Southern Rhône and releases a bevy of outstanding wines under his own label.”

Xavier’s CdPs SELL OUT faster than we can decide on how to pronounce Xavier!

Adding to the raves Robert Parker notes “Xavier Vignon, along with Philippe Cambie, are probably the two most highly renowned oenologists in Châteauneuf-du-Pape as well as some of the surrounding Côtes du Rhône regions. He is the consultant for such well-known domaines as Raymond Usseglio, Jerome Quiot, Beaurenard, La Nerthe, Mont Redon, Marcoux, Grand Veneur and La Gardine.”

Like that massive X on the label, hinting at forbidden fruit levels of a sinfully scrumptious experience that beckons enticingly. It sure satisfies the hedonistic parts of the brain but also tickles the intellectual synapses as well. If raspberry liqueur dusted with dark cocoa doesn’t knock you out, the unctuous, plush texture amid a palate of freshly picked black cherries and a bazaar of exotic spices will. The finish brings in that juicy fresh acidity and crushed rocks into the mix, culminating in a stellar red by any standard.

A mad wizard of CdP and beyond, he does things nobody else dares, you seriously need to experience his masterpieces.

At a discount exceeding 50% OFF?! If this ain’t a dream, then what could it be?

95 Points – Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

“This is another impressive lineup from oenologist Xavier Vignon, who works with the likes of Raymond Usseglio, Le Nerthe, Marcoux and Grand Veneur, to name a few. These are all negociant wines, but they obviously have access to some serious vineyard, and the winemaking is impeccable. Looking at these latest releases, his 2012s are certainly up with some of the top wines of the vintage as well. In addition, prices remain more than reasonable here. If you haven’t yet discovered these wines, now is a great time. As a side note, I’m halfway through a case of his 2007 Châteauneuf du Pape, with every wine showing brilliantly. These can drink nicely in their youth, yet age beautifully as well. The top wine from the portfolio, the 2012 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Anonyme offers thrilling purity and focus in its lively dark fruits, roasted meats and underbrush-scented bouquet. Full-bodied, ripe and textured, with fantastic polish and sweetness to its tannin, it has a supple, forward feel, yet will easily evolve. Aged 70% in barrel (of which it shows almost no trace), it exhibits dense, backward notes of dark fruits, mineral, damp earth and graphite to go with full-bodied richness, big tannin and good acidity. It will need 2-3 years of bottle age and have 15+ years of longevity. Drink 2016-2027.”
