To our community,

At The Sill, one of our core values is transparency. We know we’ve been in your inbox more than usual but now is not a time to stay silent. Black lives matter, plain and simple.

The racially charged events happening in this country deeply affect members of our team and community—as fellow humans, they affect us all. We are outraged by the systemic racial injustice and loss of life that has led us to where we are today, and continue to ask ourselves how we can do more…how we can channel our anger into action. We’re sharing a few of these small steps with you today. We know this is not enough, but it’s a start.

Financial: I’ve made personal donations to Black Visions Collective and Black Lives Matter; many members of The Sill team joined me, and I am matching those donations, too. While The Sill can’t contribute as much financially as other brands given the size and stage of our company, we’re doing what we can and continue to explore options.

Educational: As a business leader and a mother, I also spent the weekend exploring numerous Anti-Racism Resources for businesses, individuals and parents. On social media, we’re encouraging followers to knowledge-share so we can compile resources for the The Sill’s community on an ongoing basis.

Cultural: As an organization, we’re committed to diversity and inclusion. Today, people of color make up more than half of our team—but people are not statistics. Like most organizations, we have a long way to go. As a company that aims to be welcoming to all, we continuously evolve our Diversity & Inclusion practices and policies.

The Sill is committed to being a part of the solution—this means ongoing action. We will continue to speak out, make financial contributions, and do the work on the inside to evolve our guiding principles and policies. We will also continue to do what we do best: sharing plant content in the interest of adding moments of brightness to tough days. Please keep us honest.

We will not stop until we see true progress.

We’re in this together,
Eliza, Founder & CEO of The Sill
