Victoria Falls, Mosi oa Tunya, the Smoke that Thunders: whichever moniker you go by, one thing is for certain – the Falls are magnificently, jaw-droppingly brilliant.
Located where the Zambezi River dissects Zambia and Zimbabwe, the waterfall is one of Southern Africa’s most iconic sights - but really, the views are just the beginning. Hover above the 650-million litres of water in a helicopter, hold your breath in the Devil’s Pool, or take a cruise along the Zambezi River… Adventurers, romantics, thrill-seekers – Vic Falls should be at the top of your travel list.

We wouldn’t say either side of the Falls is better than the other but each offers different excitement. The Zimbabwe side enjoys the lion’s share of the the Falls so offers the most viewing spots but Zambia has the closest and most adrenaline pumping viewpoints. You can cross between the two countries quite easily so you don’t need to choose! |
If you’re after the postcard perfect Falls at their overflowing finest (we’re talking 650 million litres of water per minute) then the high water season, February - May, is the time for you. During the low water season, you’ll still catch some of the falls in flow and have the benefit of being able to bathe in the famous Devil’s Pool on Zambia’s side. |
There are plenty of options on both sides of the Falls, if you’re just heading in and out then a ‘town’ property might be for you but if you want to explore more and enjoy some activities, we’d recommend a lodge along the banks of the Zambezi. |
