Today’s email border tip about what to avoid when you are applying for your TN Visa happens to most people. This is really important to understand. Do not just read the Tip below and dismiss it. Read the whole email.
Many people are nervous when they arrive at the border. I have applied for over twelve TN Visas and I still get nervous when I stand in front of the Immigration Officer for my informal border interview. But I always remind myself to stay calm and do the following:
Mistake 2: Do not talk too much when asked a question
What does this mean? When you are at the border talk as little as possible. When your turn arrives and you approach the Officer, simply state: “I would like to apply for a TN. Here is my application.”
Do not start explaining your situation, your job, why you are applying, etc. This is all in the application letter and your supporting documents. Let the Officer read it.
The Immigration Officer is going to ask you questions;, do not "over-answer". Many people make this mistake and start saying things that can raise more questions and possibly raise the Officer’s suspicions.
