Mistake 3: Incorrectly providing this one supporting document can get your TN denied

Hi , Today’s border tip is really important. It may sound simple once you learn what it is, but many people do not realize the importance of it. So understand this tip really well and its importance so you never have this problem during the years you are applying for your TN Visa. Mistake 3: Not bringing your original degree to the border It may sound strange to you that some TN applicants do not bring their original degree to the border, but it happens to so many applicants. This causes problems as follows: The Officer does not accept your application and requests you return with your original degree. You waste time going to the border to apply Possibly missing your flight Creating a red flag in the system, indicating that your application was denied Having to explain this situation when you come back to apply and possibly raising more scrutiny in your application. Understand Why This is Important - Guard Your Original Degree As we explained in the TN Visa Expert Kit, having the proper supporting documents is very important. In this case, the original degree clearly shows the Officer you graduated since there is an official seal proving it. Providing a copy of your degree is not sufficient, and an Officer does not care to spend time trying to determine the validity of your photocopy. What To Do If You Do Not Have Your Original Degree If you are unable to find your original degree and want to apply, you may still be able to, but it will require more effort. There are no guarantees, but we have had a few customers that have been able to do it. You will need to obtain additional supporting documents, and if you really cannot find your degree it may be worth a try. The problem with this is, that every time you will need to apply for a TN, you will need to make this extra effort and hope that it works. When he went to the border to apply (with his photocopy) he was denied and asked to return with the original. He now was very stressed and anxious because all his office items and household belongings were with the movers - somewhere in transit. He had to tell his new employer he is not able to start on the agreed upon date, and he had to go to the mover’s warehouse to find his original degree.
