Are you interested in learning how to fly fish but don’t know where to start? This full-day course with Tom’s Outdoors Guide Services is perfect for you! You'll learn the basics of fly rods, reels, and lines, including rigging for different fly fishing situations, casting techniques, fly selection, and how to find and catch trout.

The course is held on private trout water owned by Snowy Mountains Trout, fed by the crystal-clear waters of the Tumut River, one of Australia’s finest trout fisheries. We limit bookings to ensure an excellent guide-to-client ratio, maximizing each participant’s learning experience. Our goal is for everyone to leave confident in their ability to catch fish on their own.

Everything from dries on top, to wets down deep, imitative to attractors, Mickey de-bunks all fly confusion.

How have you been spending time outside lately?

Now that I'm not rowing clients down the river, I've had more time for deer hunting and mushroom foraging.

 

Favourite thing to do outdoors?

Fly fishing and/or sleeping in the sun.

 

Most memorable fish?
127 cm, 110 lb Murray Cod on fly!

 

Favourite hike?

Any hike that ends with fishing, otherwise what's the point?

 

Ideal way to spend the weekend?

Early morning hunt with Anne and the dogs, pick some mushrooms, mid-morning nap, afternoon fish then BBQ at our house.

 

Favourite work memory?

Having the best nap ever in the warehouse on an Exped Mega Mat after a massive stint of guiding.

 

Something on your bucket list?

Catching giant musky in remote Canadian Lakes.

 

Most adventurous thing you've ever done?

A three day drift down the Rio Alumine in Northern Patagonia with my buddy Myles.

 

Favourite piece of gear?

Favourite item of clothing?
