Dear Future Computer Scientists,
I’m excited to share that Treehouse has partnered with Hamming College to offer an accredited Computer Science Bachelor’s degree. We pride ourselves on delivering the critical skills you need to become an effective contributor as a programmer, frontend engineer, or design contributor. However, we have yet to offer the opportunity to earn university degrees or degree credits. This partnership is our first step towards offering college credit for more of your work at Treehouse.
The initial program is a three year Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and applications are currently open for this year and next year’s program starts. Please see Hamming College now to apply. Hamming is an online-first program that offers the rigor of a traditional campus instructor–led classes, a fixed schedule, and a cohort-driven calendar.
At Treehouse, we have focused on practical skills that are typically the toolkit used by programmers. The field of computer science expands this base of knowledge to the theory of computation itself. For example, as a programmer you learn how to write programs, but as a computer scientist, you learn what a program is capable of doing and what we cannot do with the computers we have today. This provides the deep foundational support for advanced topics such as machine learning, data science, compiler development and even work on new operating systems and devices.
