The penultimate round of the 2013 Supercross Series blasted off on Saturday night in Rice Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda team had its sights set on the podium and when the night came to a close they found themselves on it.

With Jessy Nelson still nursing a sore elbow, it was up to Cole Seely and Christian Craig to post results. In the opening heat, which featured both TLD riders, Seely was off to a clean start in fourth with Craig just behind him in fifth. Turn two was problematic for Seely as he would make contact with another rider and go down. Craig struggled with some nerves but stayed calm enough to finish the heat in sixth. Cole put his head down and fought back to seventh behind his teammate. Gate position in the main event would be less than stellar for both riders.

In the main event Cole was fourth off the start but gained two positions on lap two, moving himself into second. He took off after the leader as the race wore on, but was unable to catch him. Craig, meanwhile, gated poorly but was riding great. He inched his way up, lap after lap, to fifth place at the checkers, the best overall finish of his young supercross career.

"I'm pretty happy to come away with second," said Seely after the race. "I was pretty nervous tonight. It was a tough race but I'm glad to be on the podium. I'm excited for Vegas and to start racing the Outdoor [Nationals]."

Supercross Live 2013 - On the Podium with Cole Seely:

Seely sits comfortably in third in the point standings and Craig moved himself into eighth with his Salt Lake result. The team will roll south down interstate 15 to Las Vegas for next weekend’s finale. Seely will be pushing all his chips on the table trying to nail down his first win of the year while Craig will try to keep his momentum going. Join us at Sam Boyd stadium to see the Troy Lee Designs crew in action, and don't forget to stop by our pit area.
