The end of this year’s third quarter marks a new record for Regulation Crowdfunding! 

 

Companies raised $72.9M in Q3 this year, the biggest raised in a quarter to date. Just this third quarter, 316 companies launched their Regulation Crowdfunding offerings. These exciting new data come from Pitchbook’s Venture Monitor for Q3 2020. 

 

Despite the pandemic, Reg CF continues its positive trajectory with its steady growth over this year.

This good news also comes with SEC's latest rule amendments raising the offering limit for Reg CF to $5 Million and also making the process simpler for businesses and investors alike.

The week’s top stories for investors and entrepreneurs

With the emergence of Regulation Crowdfunding, the common folk can now invest in businesses and ventures they want to support without being an accredited investor.

 

What it means for the public: Aside from more opportunities for investors, companies with successfully crowdfunded campaigns produce more jobs, helping boost the local economy.

 

What it brings: Regulation crowdfunding offers women and minorities better access to capital, providing more equal access to money to more players.

According to a recent press release, the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council urges the Federal Reserve to "leverage a proven solution" to deliver capital to SMEs in need: the Main Street Recovery Co-Investment Fund. 

 

What is happening: Latest reports from the Federal Reserve show that the Main Street Lending Program has lent approximately $4 billion of the $600 billion available with just 420 loans made.

 

What can be done: In the proposal, the federal government would match 100% of funds raised from communities, via a securities-based crowdfunding platform. With a target budget of $20 billion, it would impact over 100,000 SMEs.
