You need to get it listed with search engines and attract organic search traffic especially from Google. Below are some easy SEO fixes that can boost your search rankings on Google & eventually on Yahoo & Bing. 1. Focus on mobile first Mobile began outperforming desktop at the end of 2016 as the preferred way to access the internet. You can’t perform well in Google’s search rankings today unless your site is mobile optimized. So make sure your website is built with "Responsive" technology so it adapts to all screen sizes. 2. Gain back links on relevant sites Backlinks will remain a vital Google ranking factor. But, effective link building is now about trust and popularity. Link building has been an effective strategy for achieving high PR with Google rankings, even before the first Panda update. I believe it still is… as long as you do it right. 3. Migrate to WordPress and install Yoast WordPress isn’t the only web-hosting platform. It’s the best for SEO purposes, however, and a large part of that is due to free plugins like Yoast. Yoast can easily handle titles and meta descriptions for a website. It can also help you create XML sitemaps. 4. Fix your local listings Get your company set up on Google My Business, and you get the chance to appear in Google’s local search pack – which ranks above the first organic results. You can improve your chances of appearing in the top results by making sure your name, address, and phone number (NAP) are consistent across the web. Google checks this information to determine your business’s authority and rank. 5. Check for duplicate content. Duplicate content may lead to a penalty for your site from Google. Luckily, this issue is easy to spot and fix. While checking the pages with duplicate content, you have to pay attention to the following: If you see that only the titles are duplicated, then you just need to rewrite them. However, if the page's content is also duplicated, you need to apply a different approach. As a rule, you should set up a 301 redirect or use rel=canonical to tell Google which page is more important. 6. Optimize titles and meta descriptions for clicks. Titles and Google snippets are those that call for clicks most of all. Thus, subtle optimization of those can lead to a very effective CTR boost. There are different ways to optimize your meta description to make it attractive for users. For example, you can mention your main advantages, like competitive prices, a wide range of products, or whichever reason that sets your brand apart from others. It is also useful to analyze the search results for your competitors' brands for the keywords they use. Then think of your own keywords that will make your site visible to search engines and attractive to users. 7. Improve site speed Site speed is a major ranking factor, so improving it is a big opportunity. Run Google’s PageSpeed Insights tool to see how your site currently stands. The test will offer you suggestions to improve your site speed. Improving your site speed by even a second is great for user experience. This can also decrease bounce rate, which can improve rank. Keyword Stuffing You want to rank for specific keywords. That means that you should use your keywords a lot, right? Not quite. Sure, you should use your keyword a handful of times on your page, but don’t overdo it. Write what you know, the keywords will naturally come out. If it looks and feels unnatural, Google could count your page as spam and send it straight to the bottom. Google covets content that is of value to the end user/active seeker.
