What we learned from Apple's Event

If you missed the details from Apple's Time Flies event, look no further. Here's a roundup of the most important announcements shared at the event yesterday.

Apple iPhone 12

Well, there was no update on the highly-anticipated iPhone 12. I know, we're all a little upset. It is now rumored to be released in October. We'll be waiting on pins and needles.

Apple Watches

Series 6
Price: $399
Details: The design isn't much different that the Watch 5, but there are new colors including a blue or red aluminum case. It has a new S6 processor, which can be 20% faster than the Watch 5. Newest features include: measuring your blood oxygen level, taking an ECG anytime, and real-time elevation data down to the foot. Also, the alway-on display is back with a brighter screen.

Price: $279+
Details: A more affordable smartwatch option from Apple with lower specs than others, but it is promised to be twice as fast as the Watch 3. This one could be a great option for kids who don't need the same level of features. Note the base model is GPS-only and the cellular version will cost extra at $329.

Apple iPads

iPad 10.2
Price: $329
Details: This is the latest release in standard, entry-level tablets. It has a faster A12 Bionic chip - said to be the fastest standard iPad yet. And, it supports the Apple Pencil (first generation only) and claims to have a battery life of 10 hours.

iPad Air 4
Price: $599+
Details: The new iPad Air is not available until sometime in October. It boasts a 10.9-inch Liquid Retina display, the new A14 Bionic chip, and a fingerprint sensor built into a side button. Plus, support for Apple Pencil and Magic Keyboard. Available in four fun colors: space gray, rose gold, green and sky blue.

Apple Fitness+

Coming in late 2020, Apple is diving into fitness subscription services. Powered by the Apple Watch (Series 3 or later), you can view workouts on your iPhone, iPad, and Apple TV. The biggest differentiator is that while you workout, your Watch is capturing and tracking all the health and fitness data to give you better insights. All workouts are on-demand and Fitness+ offers a wide variety of workouts from world-class trainers. Price is $9.99 per month.

Apple One

A new subscription service offered by Apple. No release date was given, but it's rumored to be launched in October. What's included and the price varies by the package. Below is a complete breakdown.

Individual: Price is $14.95 per month. Includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 50GB of iCloud storage.
Family: Price is $19.95 per month for up to 6 members. Includes Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, and 200GB of iCloud storage.
