The official start of summer is almost here, the time many of us begin to really focus on our diet and exercise. Here are a few tips for getting in peak physical condition in time for summer fun.

Protein will help curtail the muscle destroying effects of your training session, while also jumpstarting the muscle rebuilding process. Then, make sure your next meal contains both protein and quality carbs to further feed your muscles.

2. Prioritize Red, Green, and Blue

Getting enough fruits and vegetables is also essential to your success - especially those that are red, green, and blue. They provide the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and carbohydrates that your body needs to recover and to optimize performance.

3. Double Down on Sleep

It may seem strange to say that literally not moving is your secret weapon for getting in great shape, but it's true. Research shows that inadequate sleep messes with our minds when it comes to making the right food decisions. Lack of sleep also negatively impacts our metabolism and can impair how our body uses and processes carbohydrates.
