Château Rousselle Côtes de Bourg, Cru Bourgeois, 2009
$30.00 RETAIL PRICE
You thought all the great appellations of Bordeaux were discovered, eh? The Roman poet Ausonius (for whom Château Ausone is named) held court at his villa in the Côtes de Bourg; from Antiquity until the late 19th Century, this area was Bordeaux’s prime turf. Some hardy growers have been bringing Bourg back, and it now produces the type of multi-flavored, balanced wines typified by Château Rousselle: almost Cabernet-like in their body and tannins, but far more complex than most Bordeaux wines.
