Claudio Manera saved Il Cascinone in 1999. The house, winery and vineyards were established in the 1920s, but time wore on the estate. It ceased operating in 1994 because its steep slopes made the farming so hard. Signore Manera brought in new technology and farming methods, saving this establishment much like he and other Piedmontese farmers saved this wine’s Arneis variety, which had almost disappeared by the early 1970s.
