Don’t be put off by the long name. This is a beautiful, elegant late harvest Mosel Riesling. The crisp, racy acidity a perfect foil for the late harvest sweetness. Family owned, St. Urbans-Hof was founded in 1947 by Nicolaus Weis (grandfather of current owner Nic Weis), and the name comes from the patron saint of German winemakers - St. Urban (Hof meaning estate). Piesporter Goldtröpfchen means that the grapes came from the Goldtröpfchen vineyard in the commune of Piesport situated on the north bank of the Mosel. The Goldtröpfchen vineyard is one of the best-known vineyards in the area and is renowned for its steep, slate slopes. The designation Spätlese denotes a late harvest wine.
