Rubies are Earth stones that deeply resonate with the Root chakra. They allow their wearer to feel their feet rooted to the ground. Rubies are also known to beget passion, strength, enthusiasm, and zest for adventure. Ruby is considered a stone of fortitude, and it is also said to bring a feeling of power to the wearer, banishing hopelessness and doubt. Rubies are the perfect precious stones to empower women. IWD gem #3: Labradorite transforms Labradorite is for the creatives, the magicians, all those mystical beings with a twinkle in their eye and stardust in their veins. It is the perfect gemstone for the woman who trusts her intuition, ready to claim her inherent wisdom, put there by every woman who came before her. She is learning to become the muse, the ethereal power, the spiritual warrior. She is calling for the light and clarity she needs to create. She is learning to speak the knowing that transcends logic or reason or facts. IWD gem #4: Moonstones balance Moonstones are an excellent choice for this year's celebration. They balance emotions and enhance intuition, making their wearer more accepting of change. They have been used in a wide range of cultures due to their powerful energy to heal and renew. These mysterious semi-precious stones represent the yin feminine energy. Their enchanting soft glow brings calm and balance, and they are known as protective stones for centuries. From March 8 to March 10, 2019, 15% of the proceeds from the sales of our IWD selection will benefit the Lower East Side Girls Club. Generally, 10% of our proceeds all year long benefit the ASB Foundation to support the Lepers of Koutal, Senegal. IWD gem #2: Amethysts represent feminism Amethysts carry the energy of fire and passion, creativity and spirituality. They are considered powerful protective stones. As they are linked to the crown chakra, they help to purify the mind and clear it of negative thoughts. Amethyst's color is associated with women’s suffrage and represents the many sides of the cause. When the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) in England was looking for a color scheme to distinguish their political movement, they chose purple, white, and green. Emmeline Pethick-Lawrence, editor of Votes for Women, explained “Purple, as everyone knows is the royal colour, it stands for the royal blood that flows in the veins of every suffragette, the instinct of freedom and dignity”. Since then, purple is the official color of International Women’s Day, founded more than a century ago after some 15,000 women marched in New York City to demand better working conditions and voting rights.
