Happy Memorial Day.
I know for a lot of people today means barbecues and the unofficial start of summer. We'll be doing some of that too.
But I also think about what the day is actually for.
The families who sent someone off and waited. The ones who are still waiting, in a different way. The moms especially, because that part hits differently when you're a parent yourself. The idea of watching your child grow up, and then watching them go.
8 Sheep is a small brand. We make everything in small batches right here in Indiana, and most of the people behind it are moms. This community we've built is made up of women who are pregnant, or just had babies, or are raising little ones, and there's something about today that makes me think about all the families who have done exactly that, loved someone completely, and then had to let them go for something bigger than themselves.
That kind of love deserves to be remembered.
So wherever you are today, however you're spending it, I hope it's a good one. Hug your people a little tighter if you can.
