Worlds collide in the Brasilia Lounge Chair, Anderssen & Voll’s mix of Brazilian and Scandinavian modernism. Cylindrical front legs and rectangular back legs support a frame joined by hand, while its cushioned form – including exaggerated armrests – carries a range of tactile upholsteries.

A home away from home

The Brasilia Chair was originally designed for Audo Copenhagen’s boutique hotel in Nordhavn. “There was something about the setting at The Audo that made us think of more exotic variations of Modernism, rather than our own familiar Scandinavian roots,” the designers say.

Form and feeling

Torbjørn Anderssen and Espen Voll start with a feeling and see where it leads – a practice that’s made their Oslo studio a defining voice in New Nordic Design. “We start designing and watch a piece take on its own personality,” they say. “It’s almost like breathing life into it.”
