Have you ever wondered why grapes appear in Palestinian Tatreez?

Known as *Enab (عنب)* in Arabic, grapes have been part of Palestinian agricultural life for generations. They appear in vineyards, markets, family kitchens, and seasonal harvests. And, like so many elements of everyday Palestinian life, they found their way into Tatreez.

For Palestinian women, embroidery was never simply about making something beautiful. The motifs they stitched often reflected the world around them: flowers, plants, animals, architecture, agriculture, and everyday life.

The grape motif is one of those stories, turning something familiar from the land into something that can be carried forward through thread.

It isn't printed onto fabric. It isn't simply reproduced by a machine. It is created patiently by an artisan, using skills and knowledge passed down through generations.

And sometimes, the smallest variations in handmade work are what make a piece truly special.

At Darzah, our artisans continue this tradition by bringing traditional Palestinian motifs into contemporary pieces for today's homes and wardrobes.
