ACLU Supporter, Congress must hold ICE and Border Patrol accountable – not reward their illegal, brutal attacks. But Stephen Miller and President Trump are pressuring our elected officials to pour billions more into these agencies without any accountability, transparency, or reform. Congress is preparing to vote now on a hyper-partisan reconciliation bill that includes $70 billion in new funds for ICE and Border Patrol. Our elected officials answer to us, not to the White House. That's why we're flooding their offices with messages right now, demanding that they hold the line and refuse to write any more blank checks to ICE and Border Patrol.
Thanks to the action of over 480,000 ACLU supporters, Congress refused to give new money to the Department of Homeland Security for over 70 days. This is a major win and a sign that the power of the people cannot be ignored. We've even heard from members of Congress who said this outreach was a deciding factor in their decision not to fund ICE and Border Patrol. That's why your action today is so critical to protect our communities. ICE and Border Patrol's unchecked abuses of power aren't just reckless – they're deadly. At least 18 people have died in ICE custody this year. People have been shot in the streets, ripped away from their children, and detained and deported en masse without any regard for their rights or dignity. Thank you for joining the fight. Anu Joshi |
