Friend – In the lead up to the 2026 midterms this fall, the ACLU is executing the largest ever election safeguarding program in our organization's history to protect all eligible voters before, during, and after the election – and we want you to be one of the first to know about it. President Trump and some state officials are already trying to interfere in the midterm elections – but we have a plan to safeguard our vote and keep power where it belongs: in the hands of the voters. This work is even more urgent after the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in April in Louisiana v. Callais set off a redistricting wave in the South to dilute Black political power. But make no mistake: We at the ACLU are more than ready for this fight. As our largest-ever election safeguarding initiative, we're investing more than $24.5 million to protect the right to vote and to educate and empower voters across dozens of states – including states where the threat is high, but the opportunity to organize is higher. Our legal team never stops fighting voter suppression and election subversion. But this year, the ACLU Voting Rights Project and ACLU voting rights lawyers in our state affiliates are fighting harder than ever before. We've taken legal action in more than two dozen states and D.C. against discriminatory voting laws, racial gerrymandering, attacks on mail voting and voter registration, and more. And we're ready to keep up the fight through the midterms. If anyone tries to suppress votes, rig the rules, or undermine election results, they'll see us in court, in the streets, in town halls, and across communities. But we need you in this fight with us, ACLU Supporter. Learn more about the largest election safeguarding effort in ACLU history – and how you can get involved as a Democracy Defender today. Together, our message in all of this work will be more than clear: Voters elect their elected representatives, not the other way around. We are so glad to have you alongside us in these critical efforts. For the people, Sophia Lin Lakin Deirdre Schifeling |
