We're entering Pride Month at a perilous time for LGBTQ rights. The Trump Administration has continued its assault on trans and queer people, immigrant communities, and democracy as we know it. From preventing access to gender-affirming care, to unleashing ICE on our communities, Trump's aim is to silence, overwhelm, and fragment us.

But we are fighting back – just this week we joined the ACLU and Lambda Legal in suing to stop the Trump admin from getting the private medical records of trans youth from NYC hospitals.

And it's not just Trump. There are local efforts to harm LGBTQ communities sprouting like weeds in places like Long Island. Once again, we are fighting back – and we are winning.

Just last month, we secured a major victory for trans students. When two Long Island school districts passed policies preventing trans students from using the school facilities that match their gender identity, we took legal action – and we won. The State Education Commissioner sided with us and struck down these hateful policies, ensuring trans, gender nonconforming, and nonbinary students are free to be themselves at school.

This victory is a reminder that Pride is a time to protest and to celebrate our movement's important wins.
