Friend – We are down to the wire in our fight to stop state lawmakers from creating no-speech zones all over New York. Right now, state leaders are weighing whether to pass legislation that would ban protests near houses of worship and other facilities. These negotiations are likely to wrap up any day, so lawmakers need to hear from you NOW. ADD MY NAME: Tell state lawmakers we don't want no-speech zones in New York. Legislation currently under consideration would outlaw protests on tens of thousands of blocks and even whole neighborhoods across our state. And the state legislature isn't the only place where no-speech zones are popping up. Lawmakers in New York City, on Long Island, and even the U.S. Congress have either enacted or have introduced anti-protest legislation. Telling New Yorkers that protest is dangerous is a terrible message, especially when the Trump regime is targeting protesters and trying to dismantle our rights. If this law passes, those of us who've been marching for our democracy could find ourselves breaking the law just for speaking out. Protest is what's made this country – from the Civil Rights Era, to Stonewall, to No Kings. We can't let politicians buck that legacy and trade away our freedoms to score political points. TAKE ACTION BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE: Tell lawmakers to say "no" to no-speech zones. Thank you for protecting protest.
