June is CMV Awareness Month and we're delighted to share some encouraging progress, made possible thanks to your support. CMV is a common virus that usually causes no harm, but when passed to a baby during pregnancy it can sometimes lead to lifelong disabilities.
Early detection matters, and Action funding has helped researchers to further their development of a quick, low-cost biosensor. This is real progress towards a device being available that could allow routine newborn screening, giving babies the chance for early treatment and healthier futures.

Our Research Training Fellowship scheme supports some of the most promising doctors and scientists early in their research careers – helping to develop the next generation of leaders in children’s medical research. With your help, we’ve just funded two new fellowships, investing almost £600,000, to help babies and children now and into the future.

For half a century, Davina McCall has been an amazing and steadfast supporter of Action Medical Research! Despite being one of the UK’s busiest television personalities, she consistently gives her time, energy and profile to champion our work.
As we look forward to Dine with Davina Essex next month, and the 20th Dine with Davina Southampton in the autumn, we celebrate all that Davina has done, and continues to do, to support Action.
