We're now over halfway through this year's events season and what a summer it's been so far. From sunshine to soaring temperatures, it's certainly kept participants, volunteers and supporters on their toes. Despite the recent heatwaves, it's been brilliant to see so many of you continuing to take on challenges, cheer from the side-lines and support our events every step of the way. And while plenty of finish lines have already been crossed, there's still lots to look forward to over the coming weeks.

The 2027 Race the Sun series is now officially open for
entries. Our much-loved South Downs, Jurassic Coast and Lake District
challenges are all back, alongside an exciting new addition, Race the Sun
Chilterns.
Whether you're returning for another unforgettable adventure or
taking on Race the Sun for the first time, now's the perfect time to get your
team together. With cycling, hiking and paddling through some of the UK's most
spectacular landscapes, it's set to be another fantastic year of team challenges.

COULD YOU VOLUNTEER AT RIDE ESSEX? |

Our volunteers play a huge part in making every RIDE event a
success, and we're looking for a few more friendly faces to join the team at
RIDE Essex on Sunday 30 August.
We're currently looking for volunteers to help at our feed
stations, keeping riders motivated, handing out refreshments and helping
everything run smoothly. Volunteer shifts are available at Bulmer Village Hall,
Church Road, Bulmer, Sudbury, CO10 7EH from 8.30am to 2pm, and Wethersfield
Village Hall, The Green, Wethersfield, Braintree, CM7 4BS from 10.30am to 4pm.

Whether you're a cyclist, a friend or family member of someone taking part, or simply enjoy getting involved at local events, we'd love to hear from you. No cycling experience is needed, just plenty of enthusiasm and a willingness to get stuck in.
As a thank you, you'll receive free entry to one of our 2027 RIDE sportives (which can be gifted), refreshments throughout your shift and an Action t-shirt to wear on the day.

FROM SPORTS DAY TO RACE THE SUN |

Our long-term corporate supporters, Cencora Alliance
Healthcare, held their annual staff sports day at their Chessington offices on
Wednesday 8 July. The day is all about celebrating another fantastic year of
fundraising, bringing colleagues together and enjoying some well-earned fun in
the sun. Action Medical Research mascot Paddington Bear also made a special
appearance to meet staff and cheer everyone on. The company is already looking ahead to their next challenge
where six teams will be taking on Race the Sun Lake District for the fourth
year running, while also returning as Gold sponsor. We wish everyone taking
part the very best of luck!

Poppy has the rare neuromuscular condition Acute Flaccid Myelitis
(AFM), which developed suddenly following a virus when she was six years old.
The condition caused inflammation and damage to her spinal cord, leaving her
with paralysis and weakness in her upper body and core.
Before becoming ill, Poppy loved running and taking part in
sport. Action Medical Research and the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy
Charitable Trust funded a pilot study that gave Poppy the opportunity to try
Frame Running, an adapted sport for people with moderate-to-severe walking
impairments.

"Frame Running has been an amazing opportunity for her to work on her fitness and strength, whilst also having fun and feeling accomplished," says Poppy's mum, Sharon.
Poppy now trains twice a week, takes part in races and competitions, and has even been invited to join the Scottish Development Squad for Frame Running.
