Most of us have scanned a label, spotted a green logo, and felt quite reassured.

But here's the uncomfortable truth about eco certifications: they're not all verifying the same thing. Some cover the whole product. Some only cover the packaging. Some are independently audited. Others are self-declared.

Trusting a label without knowing what it certifies isn't really trust. It's a guess.
