What's so special about our Alaska Gold Halibut?
Simply put, our Alaska Gold Halibut is special for its luscious flake, its snow white meat that is naturally sweet with a delicate flavor, and its firm yet silky texture that retains its shape with any cooking style. This seared halibut with spinach, mushrooms, and risotto recipe is a great place to start to appreciate the luxurious beauty of halibut.
What's really special about our halibut is the care our fishermen put into handling each fish for quality. In this video, Captain Rob Bateman shows us what it's like to fish for halibut in southeast Alaska and what it's like being a fishermen-owner of our co-op. He talks about what sustainability means for our co-op and small coastal communities like Sitka, Alaska.
We chose to feature halibut today because on this day in 1944 the Halibut Producers Cooperative's charter was signed, what is today Seafood Producers Cooperative. So, we are celebrating our 82 years with the fish that started this co-op.
We're celebrating our 82 years with two specials this May:
1) a sale on our core offerings: king salmon, coho salmon, halibut, and our black cod.
2) $82 off all orders over $450 when you use the following discount code at checkout: Co-op82ndbirthday
Join us in celebrating! We're really proud of the work we do.
With gratitude,
The Folks at Alaska Gold
