Amazon CTO Dr. Werner Vogels makes 5 tech predictions for 2025

Dr. Werner Vogels made his annual predictions for the new year as the world heads toward a new era of unprecedented societal challenges and rapid technological advancements. Vogels offered five insights into how these changes will reshape the world in 2025.

They include the rise of a mission-driven workforce of tomorrow looking to create positive change in the world, innovation driven by energy efficiency needs, AI-powered tools leading the fight against disinformation, the importance of open data for disaster preparedness, and intention-driven consumer technology.

Amazon Web Services showcased groundbreaking AI innovations at AWS re:Invent 2024, Amazon’s biggest cloud event of the year. Highlights included the introduction of Amazon Nova foundation models, as well as innovations for services like Amazon Bedrock, Amazon SageMaker AI, Amazon Q Business, and Amazon Q Developer.

AWS also unveiled AWS Trainium AI chip and server updates, new database capabilities, and the construction of new data centers with a full set of new components that combine advances in power, cooling, and hardware for early 2025. All of these advancements demonstrate AWS’s commitment to making AI more accessible and sustainable.
