Hello, Beauty!
Most vitamin C serums have an expiration date you can practically see.
A lot of conventional vitamin C formulas use L-Ascorbic Acid, which is the form of vitamin C most people are familiar with.
It can be effective, but it is also notoriously unstable. Light, air, heat, and time can all break it down.
Once that happens, the formula starts to lose potency. That’s when you’ll usually see the color shift, the texture change, or start noticing zero results after a few weeks of consistent use.
And when L-Ascorbic Acid oxidizes, it can become irritating for some skin types. So instead of getting that bright, healthy-looking glow you wanted, you may end up with skin that feels reactive, dry, or annoyed.
Lovely, right?
That is exactly why our Brighten Elixir uses THDA, also known as Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (try saying that five times in a row).
A mouthful, yes. Worth understanding, also yes.
THDA is a highly stable, oil-soluble form of vitamin C. Oil-soluble matters because your skin barrier is lipid-rich, which means this form of vitamin C can move through the skin more comfortably than water-soluble forms that tend to sit more on the surface.
Think of it less like forcing vitamin C onto the skin, and more like giving it a format your skin actually knows what to do with. It also stays stable much longer than traditional vitamin C.
So instead of racing against the clock before your serum starts changing color, you’re working with a form of vitamin C designed to hold up better over time.
And maybe our favorite part: THDA is pH-neutral.
Most traditional vitamin C serums have to be formulated at a very low pH to work properly, which is one reason they can feel stingy, intense, or just too much for sensitive skin.
Brighten gives you the brightening benefits people want from vitamin C, but in a way that feels much more comfortable on the skin.
We also pair it with sea buckthorn berry CO2 extract. Sea buckthorn is naturally rich in skin-supportive nutrients, including vitamins A, C, and E, along with omega fatty acids, including omega-7. And we use CO2 extraction because it helps preserve more of the plant’s full profile without relying on harsher extraction methods.
So Brighten is not just “a vitamin C product.”
It is a concentrated boosting elixir made to help visibly brighten the look of dullness, support a more even-looking complexion, and give mature skin that fresh, healthy-looking glow without feeling harsh or heavy.
And recently one of our customers Annette shared:
“I don't say this lightly, but adding these into my skin care routine has been a quiet game changer. My skin feels more balanced and looks more alive. There's no artificial scent, no heaviness just clean ingredients you can actually feel sinking in. It's subtle in the best way, and the results speak for themselves. I've tested plenty of skincare over the years, and nothing else has come close to this combination of purity and performance.”
I love the phrase “quiet game changer” because that is exactly how I think good skin care should feel.
Consistent, visible support that helps your skin look brighter, and feel genuinely healthy.
The whole reason Brighten exists is because vitamin C should not feel like a gamble.
Brightening skin takes consistency. It takes a formula that can actually hold up, sink in comfortably, and support the look of dullness and uneven tone without making your skin feel punished in the process.
That is what makes Brighten different.
And starting today, it is also one of the best times to try it.
Our Memorial Day Sitewide Sale Event starts now, which means you can take 25% off sitewide with the code ASCMEMDAY26. Plus, all orders over $150 will receive a free full-size Brighten Elixir ($90 value).
If vitamin C has let you down before, this is the formula I would want you to meet next.
