Hi, Beauty!
Sometimes, we find a brand because we’re searching for something specific. Other times, it’s a brand our team has already been using and loving for years.
Fat And The Moon is definitely one of those brands.
Several members of our team had already tried and loved their products on their own time, so when we started looking for a dry shampoo and a targeted scalp product to round out our hair care collection, the brand immediately felt like a natural fit.
Their formulas are plant-forward, thoughtfully made, a little unexpected in the best way, and rooted in the kind of herbalism and ingredient transparency we naturally connect with.
And now, two of their formulas officially have a place in our Beauty Shelf:
Lavender & Cocoa Dry Shampoo
A non-aerosol powder made with arrowroot, kaolin clay, and cocoa to help absorb excess oil and refresh your roots without the noticeably chalky finish powdered dry shampoos can sometimes leave behind. It’s an easy option for extending your style another day, adding a little body at the roots, or freshening up when a full wash simply isn’t happening.
Hair Garden Scalp Tonic
A lightweight, water-based tonic made with rosemary, saw palmetto, caffeine, panthenol, and lactic acid to give your scalp a little targeted attention without leaving your roots feeling oily or weighed down.
Fat And The Moon refers to the scalp as the soil of your “hair garden,” which may be one of our favorite ways to think about it. We spend so much time caring for the lengths and ends of our hair that the scalp can easily become an afterthought, even though it’s where the entire hair ritual begins.
These two formulas fit into that ritual in completely different ways. The Scalp Tonic gives you something lightweight to apply directly to the scalp, while the Dry Shampoo helps refresh the roots and bring a little life back to your style between washes.
They also work beautifully alongside the hair care products you may already be using from us. Sweet Sunrise Shampoo and Conditioner take care of wash day, the Hair Garden Scalp Tonic gives your scalp some extra attention, our Smoothing Hair Serum helps soften and smooth the lengths and ends, and the Lavender & Cocoa Dry Shampoo steps in when you’re hoping to get one more good hair day before washing again.
But the products are only part of why we love this brand.
Fat And The Moon was founded by herbalist Rachel Budde, who brings traditional plant knowledge into everyday personal care in a way that feels creative, approachable, and genuinely useful. The brand even affectionately calls its handmade formulas “potions,” which gives you a pretty good idea of the playfulness and care behind everything they create.
There’s also a fascinating story behind the name Fat And The Moon, along with a much deeper intention behind the ingredients, sourcing, packaging, and rituals surrounding each formula.
We shared the full story on the blog, including the meaning behind the brand’s name, a closer look at both products, and how to work them into a more complete hair and scalp care ritual.
We’re so happy to welcome a brand many of us have already loved for years—and even happier to finally share why.
