ArtLifting will host a panel about innovative art strategies for social impact at CoreNet Global 2023 at the Denver Convention Center.

Artist Spotlight: Benny Blindspots

In recognition of Pain Awareness Month, we're highlighting the work of Benny Blindspots, who is based in Pittsburgh, PA. Benny's paintings are raw, striking, and engaging to the viewer. He works in an abstracted and expressionist style while playing with surrealist themes.

At the age of 25, he was diagnosed with a rare autoimmune condition called NeuroMyelitis Optica (NMO). This demyelinating disorder affects the optic nerve, brainstem and spinal cord. He describes how his condition and chronic pain inspired his journey to become a professional artist:

“After initial skepticism, I dove all in and found that I had become fearless in my expression and that creating visual art allowed me to find pleasure in the vision I have left. Since then, art has been the outlet and the expression I need to transcend life with chronic pain and illness."
