All About: Gtechniq GT1 Ceramic Coating

Gtechniq developed GT1 to fill a true gap within their coating lineup. The goal was to create a genuine ceramic coating that delivered the water behavior, slickness, gloss, and protection associated with Gtechniq while providing a simpler and more forgiving application.

GT1 uses a straightforward, single-layer process designed for first-time coating users and enthusiasts who want stronger protection without taking on an overly technical application. Its more forgiving working time gives you greater control while applying and removing the coating, helping reduce much of the pressure and uncertainty that can come with using a ceramic product for the first time.

Application Guide

You will still need to thoroughly wash, decontaminate, and prepare the vehicle, but GT1 makes the coating stage much easier to manage. Once you've completed the drying step, prepare the surface to be coated with Panel Wipe and prime the applicator by applying a layer of GT1 evenly across the face of the supplied applicator pad.

Prime the applicator using a thin layer of product

Apply GT1 in a crosshatch pattern and watch for the coating to flash. The smooth film will begin to form visible beads (coating sweat) or areas of separation, indicating that it is ready to be removed.

Apply to the surface using a cross-hatch pattern

Watch for coating sweating to know it's curing

Once the entire vehicle has been coated, keep it dry during the initial bonding period.

Allow GT1 to cure for seven days before performing the first maintenance wash. This gives the coating time to fully bond and reach its intended durability and performance. 

Allow coating to fully cure before applying any other products
