Last weekend I got to attend a black-tie wedding, which meant I actually got to spend some time getting ready. Most days I'm pretty simple—I wear very little makeup and my routine is fairly consistent—but special occasions like this give me permission to play a little.
One of the perks of working at Beauty Heroes is that I have an entire library of beautiful products to experiment with. I was also testing an artisan makeup line from Sweden that we've been quietly evaluating for months. I ended up wearing quite a bit of it that evening, and by the end of the night I was completely convinced. The makeup looked beautiful, wore incredibly well, and yes... we'll be launching it soon. I'm not going to walk you through my entire routine—that would be a very long email—but I did want to share three standouts from the evening.

One of my favorite discoveries ended up not going on my face.
RMS's SuperNatural Radiance Serum SPF 30 is a new launch to Beauty Heroes, and I’ve been playing with it in shade Medium Aura on my face. But last weekend - it ended up on my neck and décolleté—the area I'm constantly reminding myself deserves as much sun protection as my face.
I'll admit, I don't always want a dewy finish on my complexion, but on my neck and chest? It's absolutely gorgeous. It evens everything out without looking like makeup, gives the skin a healthy luminosity, and provides broad-spectrum SPF 30 protection all at once. It feels incredibly lightweight, and somehow manages to make that whole area look smoother and more even without ever feeling heavy.
It's my new Hero product for days when I'm wearing anything with an open neckline. And if you like a sun-kissed look, Dark Aura gives the most beautiful warmth to the skin.
Since it launched, we've had a hard time keeping it in stock. Now I understand why.
The Good Stuff Radiance Oil | May Lindstrom
If there was ever a time to embrace a little shimmer, this was it.
I massaged The Good Stuff onto my arms, legs, and even smoothed a tiny bit through the ends of my hair before heading out the door. The effect is subtle—not glittery—but enough to catch the light in a really beautiful way.
Many of you already know this product because it was the very first formula May Lindstrom ever created. It’s a gorgeous base of macadamia, plum, sea buckthorn and olive oils infused with rose, ylang ylang and lavender - balanced by the most decadent aroma from the cacao oleosomes that always reminds me of walking into a tiny artisan chocolate shop. In this mix is a generous amount of gold mica.
I don't reach for shimmering body oils every day, but for special occasions they're pure joy. I know people who wear The Good Stuff year-round because glowing skin is simply part of their signature. I'm more reserved than that—but every once in a while it's fun to lean in.
Dinner Party
My final pick isn't something you put on—it's something you put on in the background.
If you haven't discovered Dinner Party, they're a dream-team collaboration between Kamasi Washington, Robert Glasper, Terrace Martin, and legendary producer 9th Wonder. Together they've created this effortless blend of jazz, hip-hop, soul, and R&B that’s sophisticated and completely approachable at the same time.
Kamasi Washington's saxophone is unmistakable, Robert Glasper has spent years redefining modern jazz while collaborating with artists like Kendrick Lamar, Common, Erykah Badu, and H.E.R., Terrace Martin has worked extensively with Kendrick Lamar, Herbie Hancock, and Stevie Wonder, and 9th Wonder has produced for everyone from Jay-Z and Destiny's Child to Rapsody and Kendrick Lamar.
Their new album, Watchu Bringin?, comes out on August 7, but the first single, If It Ain't Broke (Love Wins), is already out—and it's in rotation. If you enjoy music that sits somewhere between jazz, neo-soul, and hip-hop, I think you'll really love it.
