It’s officially Emmys season! Over the long weekend, the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences spent two days handing out awards to dozens of TV artisans at the Creative Arts Emmys. The heavy hitters, including most of the acting prizes, will be passed out this upcoming weekend at the Primetime Emmys (airing on NBC and Peacock), but with hundreds of categories, the festivities are now spread out over multiple days.

In case you were busy celebrating Labor Day, here are a few of the notable winners:

• Bad Bunny earned an Emmy Award for his Super Bowl Halftime Show, which puts him halfway to an EGOT. The Halftime show raked in seven Emmys as a whole.

• Love on the Spectrum earned three wins, including for Best Unstructured Reality Program, where it bested Summer House and RuPaul’s Drag Race: Untucked. (What an odd group of nominees.)

• Mariska Hargitay won two Emmys for the documentary she directed about her mother, Jayne Mansfield, entitled My Mom Jane. She’d only won once before in 2006 for Law & Order: SVU.

• Stanley Tucci won his seventh Emmy Award for his Nat Geo show Tucci in Italy. He’s low-key an Emmy king.

• David Harbour and Linda Cardellini both won Emmys for their roles in DTF St. Louis. While the Supporting Actor/Actress in a Limited Series is typically handed out at the regular Emmys, they got bumped to the Creative Arts Emmys this year to save time in the telecast.

• Rob Reiner won a posthumous Emmy for his performance on The Bear, while Julie Andrews and Octavia Spencer both won trophies for their voiceover work.

• Oh, and Alan Cumming won again for hosting The Traitors, making this his third win in a row after breaking RuPaul’s eight-year winning streak.

Update On My Close Personal Friends — Phaedra and CT are dating?!?!

You never know where you’re going to find love, and nothing proves that quite like the improbable romance blossoming between The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s Phaedra Parks and The Challenge’s Christopher “CT” Tamburello. The two met while filming Season 2 of The Traitors, where she was tasked with lying to, and ultimately murdering, him (although she was unsuccessful on the second count). Despite forming a close friendship (and I’ll say flirting, even though he was in a relationship at the time) on the show, they each angled to banish the other in Episode 10, with Phaedra being eliminated just shy of the finale. CT went on to win the game AND get the girl, though. Phaedra’s “castle daddy” ultimately got a divorce earlier this year and showed up to the Creative Arts Emmys with Phaedra as his date. I guess maybe Phaedra spoke too soon when she told Pilot Pete that she wasn’t playing The Bachelor, because she did leave the show with a man.

The Couch Report — RHONY is back! (Or at least we hope so)

The Real Housewives of New York City is back, and we’re (tentatively) excited! The premiere of Season 16 aired last night with a revamped cast that includes OG Carole Radziwill, three reboot returners in Sai de Silva, Erin Lichy, and Jessel Taank, and three brand new Housewives, all of whom seem a bit bonkers in their own way. There’s Erika Hammond, a former WWE wrestler, now married to a billionaire; Hailey Glassman, the ex of Jon Gosselin; and Daisy Toye, Martha Stewart’s makeup artist. If there premiere is any indication, this season will be a lot more fun than the last two.

But RHONY is just one piece of a powerful Bravo lineup that’s airing at the moment. Lisa Barlow is currently fighting for her life on the 20th anniversary version of Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip, Next Gen NYC just dropped its Season 2 reunion trailer, and Vicki Gunvalson is trying to prove she’s not a “Debbie Downer” on RHOC to varying degrees of success. That’s not to mention the fact that both RHOSLC and RHOP are both headed back to television on September 16 and October 11, respectively. It’s a good time to be a Bravo fan.

Be So For Real — Wimbledon is cracking down on influencers

If you’ve been following the US Open online at all, you’ve undoubtedly seen plenty of discourse about the influencers present at the event. Fans and players alike have scolded the droves of content creators (both novice and professional) for descending upon Arthur Ashe Stadium without any knowledge of tennis decorum. Between filming dances in the stands, talking during points, and bringing ring lights into the bleachers, the influencers have gotten just as much attention this year as the players themselves.

Well, Wimbledon won’t be made a fool of. The British tournament has already announced that it won’t be accrediting any influencers to cover the festivities as the US Open did this year. The London-based Grand Slam will also continue its policy of confiscating disruptive technology, including ring lights and speakers. Determined to avoid the fate of the Birkin Bag (which was declared dead via influencer this week), Wimbledon will be sticking to its low-fi traditions.

Current Hyperfixation — There’s a top secret Elizabeth Holmes documentary coming out next month

Lastly, there is a brand new Elizabeth Holmes documentary set to hit theaters on October 16, and it’s directed by…checks notes…Nathan For You creator Nathan Fielder? The comedian secretly paired up with documentarian Lance Oppenheim to interview the Theranos scammer back in 2023 before she headed to prison. Until this weekend, no one knew that such a documentary even existed, but the film, titled You Can See Everything, premiered at the Telluride Film Festival at a secret screening that has since set the world abuzz. The trailer, which shows Holmes and Fielder having a very awkward (and close) conversation with each other, has made its rounds on the internet, and as a lover of The Dropout, I cannot wait to see what juicy tidbits this doc will provide.
