Ready to hear something wilder than Leo D dating a woman over 25? Last week’s Summer House reunion Part 1 scored the highest overnight ratings in the show’s 10-season history. Yeah, I’m not kidding. Forget the actual show, we wanted the cast sitting around with the women dressed like they’re headed to the Oscars and the men looking like they’re about to step onto a yacht, all while rehashing drama that already happened. This was a cultural moment in the same chaotic lineage as Ariana DeBose’s BAFTAs rap, Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande holding space in that interview, and the Blake Lively text receipts. Pop culture scripture, if you will. The Summer House reunion Part 1 dove straight into the drama we actually cared about: Amanda and West. It took up so much airtime, we weren’t even sure what was left to cover in the next two parts… but we were wrong. Whereas reunions usually function as a collective post-mortem, this one played more like “breaking news,” as Bravo executive Josh Brown told The Hollywood Reporter. The second hour kept the stream of memes, gasps, and disappointed tsks going. It picked up right where Summer House Part 1 left off, with Ciara methodically dismantling Amanda like a Christmas tree on January 2nd, and the group sitting in peak collective discomfort. Let’s go. Ciara isn’t doneWhen we left our pals, Kyle had suggested Ciara was “a little harsh” in her description of Amanda, but she was far from done. Next, she decided to revisit some specific moments from previous seasons, including Ciara leading a powerful discussion about the implications of being the first Black cast member on the show, and how challenging it was to navigate an interracial relationship on television. KJ Dillard echoed the sentiment Miller shared during Season 10, with the cast pointing out that Amanda had told Ciara during that conversation, “I see you way more than I did prior.” Andy asked Ciara if she believed Amanda. She said she “perhaps” did then, but not now. “I think that after watching the season back, it’s very clear that Amanda and West were using buzzwords like ‘I see you, I hear you,’ to, like, satiate maybe what I needed to hear, but they didn’t really see or hear me,” Miller said. Amanda didn’t accept this. “Everything that I’ve said to you over the summer, everything that I felt, everything that we’ve talked about was truly how I felt in those moments. I got caught up in my feelings, and it doesn’t matter — this has hurt me a lot,” she said. (I’m so sorry, but why is Amanda giving such Rachel Leviss energy???) Then we were back to West’s exclusive relationship with Meija Moreno when he began pursuing Amanda. Andy asked Amanda how West’s “inability to commit to Ciara” made her think this situation was any different. Ciara said she couldn’t be too bothered by the hurt she caused, pointing to Amanda’s frequent bar-hopping around the West Village over the last month as an indicator of her lack of remorse. “I wanted to get to a point, selfishly, where maybe I felt I understood what was going on, because I was going to have to be honest with Ciara no matter what,” Amanda said. “I felt embarrassed to have to say I have feelings and have kissed West, and he’s seeing someone else. I felt embarrassed having to say that to Ciara.” Mia Calabrese agreed, adding, “I mean, yeah, it’s embarrassing.” For some reason, this was the final straw that sent Amanda and her tiny bun offstage crying. I’m surprised this was the trigger, but I will say that girlie took a lot of heat on her. That meant West was finally alone in the limelight, in all his Sandoval glory. West is a literal SimSo Amanda swiftly exited in tears, leading the entire left couch to immediately go, “BRO, GO AFTER HER!!” Even Kyle was telling West to go after his wife. It took multiple castmates basically commanding West for him to finally get up and follow Amanda backstage. It’s okay, West. If you miss five minutes of screentime, you’ll still be considered for House of Villains. He eventually returned and told Andy Cohen, “She just took a beat,” before promptly sitting back down. Homeboy had a free excuse to skip the line of fire, and he chose to get back in that chair. West in the hot seatFinally, all the attention is on West, his literal wet dream come to life. First up, KJ shared an emotional memory about how his womanizing father — whose behavior West’s recent actions reminded him of — impacted him growing up. Strike one. Then Dara, someone else who previously dated West, entered and delivered another blistering critique: “The biggest concern of his is being well-liked and well-received,” she said of West. “He doesn’t prioritize the women he’s linked to romantically with the same respect as he does anybody else in his life… Unfortunately, it’s up to you to decide what’s worth sacrificing for that kind of person.” Strike two. And honestly, fair question — is it worth blowing up your life and reputation for a man like West, or Tom Sandoval? Not saying I have the answer, just posing the question. West then did the classic ex move of agreeing with all the criticism being thrown at him — like when your cheating ex says, “I know I’m the worst person in the world! I am scum!” But instead of reading as accountability, it just came off as performative. He wasn’t really apologizing or taking responsibility. In fact, neither party has actually said: “I’m sorry.” My new favorite word: PathyBy now, I’m typically unfazed by Lindsay Hubbard’s yap. As a fellow yapper, I know half the things we say don’t make sense and exist primarily to fill a silence. But one word stood out amidst the word vomit: “pathy.” Lindsay threw this term at West, and it turns out it’s her slang for “pathological liar.” I’m starting a grassroots campaign for “pathy” to win the 2026 Merriam-Webster word of the year. We absolutely need it, given the current state of dating. Remember Jesse?Okay, enough Scamanda — let’s give some attention to the other cast members, or they’ll wilt. Andy snatched a moment to hand the mic (metaphorical, obviously — we’re all mic’d up here) to Jesse Solomon. Who? He’s the aspiring, now-touring musical artist who didn’t really say or do much for the first two episodes of the season. Anyway, he admitted to mishandling his blurred friendship with Ciara (which honestly feels like forever ago) and regretted the joking nature of potentially making out with her earlier in the season. No one really cared, but Andy tried to stretch the segment and pivoted to Jesse’s music career. He recently released a song called “Falling for Best Friend.” Was it about his love for Ciara? Was it about West and Amanda? “No, I wrote that song a long time ago,” he said, looking visibly uncomfortable throughout the entire segment. Ever hear of “yes, and” Jesse?! Ciara was quick to redirect the attention back to the real reason we’re all here: “They can play it at their wedding, though,” she muttered. Amanda eye-rolled. Carl’s a MessI love when things get so meta. So one of the unintentional products of Scamanda was this iconic slogan. “Carl’s a mess,” Kyle had said, referring to his castmate Carl Radke, whom fans know to be particularly empathetic. As the quote began to trend on social media, Uber Eats seized the opportunity — especially as they’re already a sponsor of the show. The ad shows Radke crying on his apartment couch, surrounded by Uber Eats takeout boxes, while his ex-fiancée Lindsay Hubbard hands him a tissue. It also proved that any lingering tension from Carl and Kyle’s melodramatic fight during the group’s final weekend in the Hamptons was water under the bridge. “I think you are finally the person you are supposed to be and wanted to be, and that’s a beautiful thing to see,” Lindsay told Carl. A sweet moment that was then swiftly snatched by Amanda. She told Andy she “would have never done that to [Carl and Lindsay] during their breakup” and that “it did hurt a little bit.” Amanda didn’t really sit with the counterargument to that frustration — but Ciara was ready to pounce, as usual: “You would never monetize something, but you would f*ck your friend’s ex? Your bar is… we don’t know where your bar is…” Kyle, naturally, had no issue with the commercial using his line: “I thought it was epic.” The ‘truth’ about Kyle and AmandaOkay, let’s not forget the other injured party of Scamanda, aka Kyle. So we learn that the pair’s marriage had supposedly been deteriorating over the course of the last two summers. But in the midst of another heated exchange near the end of Part 2, Kyle admitted that his “needs” hadn’t been met since the pair got married four years ago. Supposedly, the real turning point happened on New Year’s Day, when Amanda woke up after a night alone and learned Kyle was at a hotel in Hoboken after a DJ gig — and realized she was starting another year with the same man pulling the same moves. Much of the conversation circled around Lindsay’s 2025 post-breakup “Freedom Dinner,” which instigated Kyle’s verbally abusive tirade and generated a million memes of Amanda gleefully smirking. Then it was up to West to explain why he chose to sidle up to Amanda during Kyle’s yelling spree, which he said was motivated by the fact that no other men had ever stood up for her against Kyle — a comment that prompted the Loverboy CEO to snap back: “Guy who’s never been in a relationship his entire adult life — a lot of people weighing into my marriage who can’t relate.” The discussion devolved into a he said–she said over who was more responsible for their separation over the summer. Kyle felt Amanda negging him about his DJ career to Bailey on the first weekend set a disastrous tone for what followed; meanwhile, Amanda recycled her accusations of Kyle cheating and “stepping outside the marriage” as the primary reason she checked out. Gotta say: mocking DJ career vs infidelity — she gets that point. Then things really got good. As each traded more barbs, Kyle laid bare his true feelings about West, and the hypocrisy of Amanda — the “bed bug” — ditching him for another party animal. Even other cast members pointed out that West has all the traits Amanda supposedly hated in her husband. Ciara asked, “I thought you hate going out?” Amanda replied with another cutting line: “Yeah, I hated going out with Kyle.” Kyle started crying before snapping: “This kid parties twice as hard as I do,” he said of West. “And I say ‘kid’ because you are the most immature, fraudulent phony I’ve ever met!” What’s left for Part 3?After all this, we’re all wondering what more could possibly be addressed in the final installment next week. Like… hasn’t this drama cow been thoroughly milked? Not if you bring in another player. In the midst of everyone’s lunch break in the dressing rooms (salmon and potatoes, in case you’re food-nosy like me), Ciara and Kyle hopped on a FaceTime call with Meija Moreno — a.k.a. “Montana Girl,” a.k.a. West’s ex-girlfriend, and the person responsible for making that infamous horsehair tie. Side note: Meija also claimed he yelled at her about it! Sad. Meija said that she and West dated all last summer; he referred to her as his girlfriend; and he didn’t want to go public with the relationship for fear of exposing her to a national audience he assumed would side with Ciara. Yeah, Meija is not having it, and she called out the hypocrisy. “You were concerned about pitting me against Ciara, but you’re very comfortable dumping me and popping out the next day in a relationship with Amanda?” she pointed out. Then Kyle asked the question on everyone’s minds: “Can we call [Meija] on the set?” CAN WE? CAN WE??? Oblivious across the hall, West attempted to coach and calm Amanda down, reassuring her that she was doing everything she could. “Don’t sound snippy,” he said. “I think it’ll be a little easier.” Yep. Tuning in next week and waiting for the receipts. |
