These Taylor Swift Wedding NDAs Must Be Iron CladHere’s everything we DO know about T&T’s wedding day.
As Occam’s razor famously states, the simplest explanation is usually the right one, and while fans were bending over backwards theorizing about non-wedding plans Taylor Swift might have had for Madison Square Garden over the 4th of July weekend, the pop star was simply getting married there. While Swift refused to confirm that she and Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce were tying the knot at the iconic New York concert venue pre-nuptials, a bevy of corroborating evidence, including road closures, hotel reservations, and hundreds of black SUVs on 7th Ave, pointed to a wedding, despite some fans claiming she’d already got married or was going to open MSG for a fan-filled livestream of her wedding. Swift finally confirmed she’d tied the knot in MSG via a press release during the evening of July 3rd from her iconic publicist, Tree Paine. The wedding, hosted in the center of Manhattan on a holiday weekend, caused complete chaos for days. (I would know. I was there.) Paparazzi stalked the outside of the venue for a week, snapping photos of everything from artificial trees and arcade games to Krispy Kreme donuts and frozen chicken entering and exiting MSG. Hundreds of fans, journalists, and angry New Yorkers trying to get into Penn Station circled the venue on July 3 in 100-degree heat, snapping photos, cheering, and screaming at police to move the barricades because their train to New Jersey was going to leave in five minutes, and they didn’t give a rat’s ass who was getting married at Madison Square Garden, because they were having a barbecue at their mother-in-laws and there wasn’t another train to East Orange for two hours. And yet despite paparazzi coverage, 1,000 guests, and an official press release, we still know next to nothing about the actual wedding. So while we wait for Taylor to drop the wedding photos/video/16-part Netflix documentary, let’s recap everything we DO know about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding. 10 Things We Know About Taylor Swift & Travis Kelce’s Wedding1. The formal wedding ceremony did happen at MSGWhile fans had speculated that perhaps the MSG event was just a reception/party following a smaller wedding elsewhere, those in attendance have confirmed that Taylor and Travis did indeed exchange vows and say “I do” at Madison Square Garden. It remains to be seen if the Harry Styles banner was looking down on them. 2. They settled on “JUST&T MARRIED!” for their wedding announcementFollowing their “I dos,” signs outside Madison Square Garden flashed lavender with the phrase “JUST&T MARRIED!” written in black all caps. The same message served as the subject line of the emailed press release. And, no, that’s not a typo. The “T&T” refers to “Taylor & Travis,” but as millennials have already learned, some wedding hashtags work better than others. This could have perhaps done with a bit of workshopping, so it didn’t seem like AT&T product placement. 3. It was a siblings-only wedding partyVia the official press release, Taylor’s only sibling, brother Austin Swift, served as Taylor’s “man of honor” while Travis’s brother Jason Kelce played the role of best man. This sibling symmetry worked in the couple’s favor. There’s no worse trauma than a bride from a big family having to chop siblings from the bridal party to match the groom’s one brother. 4. LOTS of celebs were guestsAs Taylor Swift proclaimed on The Graham Norton Show last year, she intended on dodging any pesky guest list drama by seemingly inviting every person she’d ever met. The 1,000-person guest list included Abby Wambach, Adam Scott, Andrew Scott, Ashanti, Beabadoobee, Benson Boone, Bowen Yang, Brad Paisley, Brad Pitt, Bradley Cooper, Camila Cabello, The Chainsmokers, Charlie Day, The Chicks, Cindy Crawford, Conan O’Brien, Dakota Johnson, Donald Glover, Ed Sheeran, Elizabeth Banks, Ellie Goulding, Emma Stone, Eric Stonestreet, Erin Andrews, Ethan Hawke, Fergie, Gigi Hadid, Glennon Doyle, Gracie Abrams, Greta Gerwig, Heidi Gardner, Hugh Grant, Ice Spice, Jack Antanoff, Jason Sudeikis, Jennifer Lopez, Jenny Han, Jessica Alba, Jessica Chastain, Joey King, Kaia Gerber, Karli Kloss (GASP), Kelsea Ballerini, King Princess, Laura Dern, Lena Dunham, Liam Hemsworth, Marcello Hernandez, Maren Morris, Mariska Hargitay, MGK, Michael Strahan, Millie Bobby Brown, Miranda Lambert, MUNA, Nelly, Niecy Nash-Betts, Nikki Glaser, Noah Baumbach, Owen Thiele, Paul McCartney, Pete Wentz, Peyton Manning, Phoebe Dynevor, Reese Witherspoon, Robin Roberts, Ronan Farrow, Sabrina Carpenter, Sacha Baron Cohen, Selena Gomez, Seth Meyers, Simone Biles, Sombr, Stephen Colbert, Steven Spielberg, Suki Waterhouse, Tate McRae, Tom Brady, Tom Hanks, Tommy Hilfiger, Uzo Aduba, Wayne Gretzky, Zadie Smith, and Zoe Kravitz. And that doesn’t include all of Travis’ football friends AND guests who left without being papped. 5. But others were notWith such a wide-ranging guest list, there were some startling omissions. The most glaring were Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, whose one-time close relationship with Swift seems to have taken a hit following her legal battle with Justin Baldoni. Two other former close friends, Jaime King and Keleigh Teller (Miles Teller’s wife), were also not present. Others like Prince William and Kate Middleton, ex-boyfriends Harry Styles and Matty Healy, and former tour opener Charli XCX, also didn’t make the lengthy guest list. 6. Taylor’s mystery dress was DiorWhile we’ve yet to see a photo of Taylor’s wedding dress, we do know that it was designed by the Creative Director of Dior, Jonathan Anderson, according to the press release. Anderson also created Travis’s wedding ensemble, while the pair wore Christian Louboutin shoes, and Taylor wore Cartier jewelry. I have been refreshing Taylor’s Instagram since the wedding PRAYING for some photos. 7. Stevie Nicks and *checks notes* Adam Sandler were involved in the festivitiesWhile we don’t know much about the ceremony itself, the press release revealed that comedian Adam Sandler officiated the event. For those scratching their heads, Sandler co-starred with Travis in Happy Gilmore 2. For those still scratching their heads, I’m with you. The Good Morning America anchors also revealed that Stevie Nicks performed at the wedding, a fact which makes a bit more sense as she’s a pop icon and inspiration for Taylor. 8. The decor was “Garden inside the Garden”While we also don’t have any photos from inside the event, eagle-eyed reporters began speculating about a plant-life decor theme when trees and floral items were spotted at the MSG load-in doc. The Good Morning America co-hosts also confirmed this element of the ceremony saying it was “beautiful.” 9. Bradley Cooper brought Philly cheesesteaksReports of the wedding food have also been few and far between, but Us Weekly reported that trucks from both Mama’s TOO! pizzeria and Bradley Cooper’s Philly cheesesteak restaurant, Danny and Coop’s were spotted pulling up to the venue later in the evening, presumably bringing some late-night nosh to the event. 10. The NDAs are working overtimeFinally, because of the mountains of information about this wedding that we do not know, we can assume that Taylor and Travis put some air-tight NDAs in place. While guests’ phones were confiscated prior to the festivities, its stunning just how few reports from the event have leaked out via guests/MSG workers. AMC CEO Adam Aron tweeted and then quickly deleted a recap of the night’s events. Apparently the wedding is, for now, still marked Top SECRET&T. |
