Your Fave, Unhinged Reality TV Stars Are About to Join 'Big Brother'I can't wait to watch a drag queen fight with a 52-year-old mom over charcuterie.
We’re now five days post-Taylor Swift’s wedding, and we still don’t have a single photo of her wedding dress. As a nosy person, I’m mad, but I’m also low-key impressed that these NDAs are continuing to hold up. However, while we wait for additional details on T&T’s wedding, the world continues to turn. This week, Love Island USA has made some brutal cuts to the cast as it steers towards its finale on July 12, where one couple will be voted as the winners (although I’m still hoping that Zach and Bryce run off into the sunset together). While promoting their film about a series of islands in the Mediterranean, the cast of The Odyssey, including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, and Robert Pattinson, have been flying around the world, posing for photos in various countries as they promote the film. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Catherine Laga’aia are also busy talking about an island movie, in this case the live-action Moana, which will arrive in theaters this Friday (or Thursday afternoon, strictly speaking). Sticking to the island theme, Prince Harry has returned to Great Britain (technically also an island, albeit a less tropical one). He and Meghan Markle were supposed to attend an event for the Royal Hospital Chelsea together today, but Meghan dropped out due to security concerns. This comes days after Prince Harry made headlines for RSVPing too late to stay at Buckingham Palace during his trip AND for losing a lawsuit against the Daily Mail. England is also the only island country still in the World Cup, which begins its quarterfinals tomorrow (although England will be facing off against Norway on July 11 in Miami). But enough talk of islands, let’s switch topics and discuss a fake house built on the CBS backlot in Los Angeles: Updates On My Close Personal Friends — The Big Brother 28 cast is packed with reality TV royaltyWhen a new supreme rises, the old one fades away, and just as the six-night-a-week viewing experience of Love Island wraps up, the three-night-a-week viewing experience of Big Brother is about to begin. CBS’s summer reality TV staple will return on July 9 for three months of strategy, emotional manipulation, and weird costumes. Instead of all newbies, however, Season 28 seems to be flaunting a cast sprinkled with previous reality TV contestants. Two familiar faces were hidden within the initial crop of 14 houseguests. The first, Lyric Medeiros, appeared briefly on Season 21 of American Idol, where she was put through to Hollywood only to be cut before live rounds began. The other, Jason De Puy, is perhaps better known by his drag queen persona Salina EsTitties. As Salina, De Puy competed twice on RuPaul’s Drag Race, most recently having a full-on crashout when she was eliminated just a few weeks ago on All Stars 11. PRAYING we get this level of hysterics in the house. And speaking of hysterics, there seem to be 3 other reality TV stars heading into the maelstrom, although they were not officially announced in the CBS cast. According to Men’s Journal, the breakout star of Big Brother 26 and noted charcuterie lover Angela Murray will be returning to the house this summer. Entertainment Weekly reported that Survivor 50’s wildcard and Georgia news anchor Rick Devens will be stirring up trouble in the Big Brother house, bringing the cast to 16. There are also reports that Survivor 45 winner Dee Valladares will be competing on Big Brother 28, but those have yet to be substantiated. No matter, my butt will be glued to the couch until September. The Couch Report — The Real Housewives of Orange County, Project Runway, and Big Brother all premiere on the same nightAnd speaking of couches, there’s no better day to own a sofa than July 9, 2026, when a trio of reality TV staples all premiere new seasons. Joining Big Brother 28 (which airs its 90-minute premiere on CBS at 8 p.m.) are The Real Housewives of Orange County and Project Runway. RHOC Season 20, which will see the return of Vicki Gunvalson (THANK GOD!), will premiere on Bravo at 8 p.m., while Project Runway Season 22 will premiere on Freeform at 9:30 p.m. before streaming on both Hulu and Disney+. Like this season of Big Brother, this year’s Project Runway will also feature some familiar faces among its (record-breaking) cast of 22 designers. Joseph McRae, who finished 9th in Season 21, is back, and joining him are Miss Universe 2022 R’Bonney Nola, Bao Tranchi, the runner-up of Next In Fashion Season 2, and two queens from RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 16, Plane Jane and Q (competing under their real names Andrew Dunayevskiy and Robert Crone, respectively). While Q is a formidable seamstress and costume designer, I expect that Plane Jane has returned mainly to start fights given that she’s also an alum of House of Villains. Here are a few of her best moments if you aren’t familiar with her work: Clip 1, Clip 2, Clip 3. You’re welcome. Be So For Real — Zendaya’s Eiffel Tower mask was not the momentContinuing my train of remarkable segues, Project Runway judge Law Roach and “image architect” (aka celebrity stylist) rarely sends a flop look onto a red carpet, but I am sorry to inform you that he and Zendaya biffed it hard at the Paris photo call on The Odyssey press tour. Law and Zendaya basically created the concept of “method dressing” where a celebrity’s red carpet looks in some way tie into the film’s theme. In Paris, Law seems to have taken this a step too far with Zendaya dressing like the Eiffel Tower for a photo shoot directly in front of the Eiffel Tower. Her headpiece looked like someone had glued a cardboard replica of the Parisian monument to her face, and the ensemble was not aided by the white dress’s giant sleeves. In the photos sans Eiffel Tower Halloween mask, Zendaya looks incredible per usual, but I do fear the pair may have flown too close to the sun (or Eiffel Tower) with this one. Current Hyperfixation — The Ocean’s 11 prequelDid you know that Bradley Cooper is writing, directing, and starring in a prequel to Ocean’s 11 about Danny Ocean’s (George Clooney in the original) parents pulling off a heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix? Because somehow I missed this news until the film started announcing its cast this week. Not only is Bradley Cooper playing Danny’s father, with Margot Robbie playing his mother, but the cast also includes Wagner Moura (The Secret Agent), Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown), Josh Gad (The Book of Mormon), Vicky Krieps (The Phantom Thread), George MacKay (1917), and Lauren Ridloff (The Walking Dead). It’s Ocean’s 11 with European accents? Consider the tickets purchased. And if you’re thinking, “Wait, I thought they were making an Ocean’s 11 sequel?” You’d also be right. According to George Clooney, there is a sequel in the works with himself, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Casey Affleck, Julia Roberts, and Don Cheadle, among others, all set to return. Let’s just all pray that Matt Damon’s prosthetic nose also makes an appearance. |
