Gen Z isn't going to the DMV. Now what?
Is this your brand on Milled? Claim it.
The law that governs how most Americans register to vote was written in 1993, and it was built around the DMV: Register to vote when you get your driver’s license.
Simple, right? Not anymore.
Here’s the reality today: Gen Z isn't getting driver's licenses. Only 26% of 16-year-olds have a license today. By 18, that number is still just 60%. Between rising costs, driving anxiety, and better public transit in major cities,an entire generation is coming of age without ever setting foot inside a DMV.
Because Texas completely blocks online voter registration, Powered by People is doing the hard work to reach these young voters exactly where they are.
We go directly to them — on college campuses, at concerts — to help them get registered, and personally stay in touch with them until and after they vote.
Democrats have lost winnable races in Texas by razor-thin margins that still haunt us. But it doesn’t have to be that way.
We know that our organizing moves the needle.
In 2024, the voters our volunteers personally stayed in touch with turned out at 79%. (To put that in perspective, 18-29 year olds not in our program turned out at a rate of 39%.)
Will you chip in $3 today to help us reach the next generation of Texas voters where they are?

Thank you,
Aimee Prudhomme
