Our team was in Laredo for James Talarico's rally, partnering with his campaign to ensure every attendee will be able to vote in November.
Our volunteers personally greeted everyone in line and got to work verifying, updating and newly registering everyone we met. By the end of the day, we'd checked registration status for 168 voters and added 19 new voters to the rolls. In every instance we made a plan to personally stay in touch with each voter, to help them with any possible voting issue – from confirming their registration, to making sure they have the right form of voter I.D., to letting them know their nearest early voting location.
We go where the work is, to places like Laredo that often get overlooked, and we register and stay in touch with the voters nobody else is reaching. That’s what it's going to take to win the Senate come November (where James will be the 51st vote!). But keeping up this kind of ground game takes resources and we rely on this team to keep our program going strong.
