A whistleblower just came forward with a warning: the system Trump ordered USPS to build for mail ballots is a mess. It is rushed and untested.
Trump's executive order set out to make it harder to vote by mail, and now we're seeing exactly how they intend to pull it off — in a way most people won't notice until their ballot doesn't count.
We’re gearing up to fight back against this blatant attempt at disenfranchisement. In partnership with the Texas Democratic Party, we’re working on sending mailers to 400,000 Texans who are registered to vote by mail.
Powered by People will handle “the chase” and personally reach out to each one of these Texans to strongly encourage them to vote in person if they can or to get their mail in ballots sent back as soon as possible.
That kind of outreach isn't cheap. And we don't have the luxury of waiting to see how bad this gets before we act.
We've seen what happens when people give up on their vote because the system made it too confusing, too slow, too easy to mess up. We’re not going to let that happen without a fight.
