Tuesday night James Talarico joined me and 1,289 current and prospective volunteers for an organizing call that caused us to have hope and — most importantly — to take action.

An impressive 395 attendees signed up to volunteer with Powered by People for the first time -- to reach, register and turn out the young voters who will power James’ victory in November. They will join hundreds more who have been with us from the beginning doing the work all over the state of Texas.
Just as impressive, Kate and our Volunteer Experience Team called every single person who signed up Tuesday night and got 282 of them scheduled for trainings so that they will be prepared to work our events on college campuses, at clubs and coffee shops, at concerts and run clubs AND… at every single James Talarico event going forward.
And as I’m writing this 18 more have just been scheduled for trainings… Aimee, our Executive Director, and all of the organizers who work with her, are relentlessly pursuing every potential volunteer to give them a chance to join this fight. It’s what it’s going to take if we want to win.
They and James know that this model of meeting young voters where they are, connecting with them in person, making sure they’re registered and then personally staying in touch with them works.
In 2024, 79% of the young voters in our program voted, compared to 39% for that same demographic statewide. That was a little more than 28,000 voters back then. Imagine if we could triple or quadruple that impact!
With this team, with these volunteers, with this opportunity to partner with James Talarico, we can.
