Denton County is one of the fastest growing parts of Texas, but it hasn't elected a Democrat to the Commissioner's Court in 40 years. It’s also a must-win for James Talarico in this year’s U.S. Senate race.
That’s why we’re so excited that Candace Valenzuela is running for County Commissioner. Her victory means real representation in north Texas and it gives Talarico a fighting chance to become the next senator from Texas.
Denton has quickly shifted from a reliably red county to a true battleground, and Candace is at the forefront of that change. For example, more than 20,000 Democrats voted in the March primary, which is 1,800 more than voted on the Republican side.
And she's beaten the odds before, defeating an 18-year incumbent for a seat on the local School Board, where she delivered for students and families. Now she's bringing that same fight to Denton County.
The momentum behind her is real, and so is her chance to deliver for Denton County and the full Democratic ticket.
Candace is the key to winning statewide. Her street-level campaign will turnout voters that the campaigns for senate and governor won’t be able to reach.
