why we're so successful
Is this your brand on Milled? Claim it.
I want you to meet Juli Powell.

Powered by People is very much a community, a family even for some. We’re light on hierarchy and individual accolades, heavy on team-building and mutual support.
And yet within this community of thousands of everyday Texans doing their best to save our state and country, there are some who really go the extra mile (and then some).
Juli is one of them.
After she closed her successful dental practice in Austin a few years ago, she was looking for a way to be useful and to make the most of her extraordinary leadership and organizing skills. Lucky for us (and for Texas), she found Powered by People and got to work.
She quickly became a stand out in our Travis County program, posting up with other volunteers on the University of Texas and Austin Community College campuses, and finding other venues and opportunities to meet young and future voters wherever they might be.
There she would talk with them, listen to their concerns and interests, get them registered to vote and stay in touch with them throughout the election cycle, answering questions, providing useful resources and nudging them to vote until she could confirm that their ballots were cast.

She also took on the task of training new volunteers to our program, spending hundreds of hours patiently walking through the details of our process, responding to questions, overseeing newly deployed volunteers and developing a training regimen that we are still using today.
And then this.
We learned late last week the Texas Democratic Party was having a hard time reaching all the county registrars (there are 254 of them!) to get their individual updated voter files that allow groups like ours to have the latest data to inform our engagement with new voters.
This information is critical for the work we do, and without it our volunteers are at a big disadvantage. For example, without updated data they may waste time trying to register someone who is already on the rolls.
To fill the gap, Powered by People offered to reach out to these hundreds of county voter offices to request the files, ensure they are delivered to the party and that the voter file is current and usable by our volunteers, by candidates and by anyone else working to win political power for Democrats.
And it is Juli Powell who has spent every day this week making the calls, requesting the data, and doing the work to ensure that our volunteers have what they need in the field.
She is a standout, an inspiration and an amazing example of the thousands of PXP volunteers giving everything they’ve got to make sure that we meet the moment and win in November.
Thank you,
Beto
